Four months ago, I stepped into a unique dual role with UCDD & UCHRA—part Train the Trainer, part Project Manager. I anticipated a meaningful project, but I didn’t expect it to become such a transformational experience—for the teams I was supporting and for me personally.
I had the privilege of working alongside diverse, mission-driven professionals from both agencies. Every single one brought their own expertise, experience, and passion for service.
Yet, for many, it was their first time ever standing in front of a group to train others. Despite the nerves and newness, they stepped up—and they showed out.
Built impactful training content from scratch
Practiced through mock sessions with humility and courage
Delivered not one, but two rounds of live training to their peers with an average feedback score of 4.7/5
Most recently trained a full room of over 60 employees
They didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them.
And they did it all on top of their daily responsibilities across 14 counties in the Upper Cumberland.
This journey wasn’t about perfection. It was about progress. It was about courage. It was about commitment to something bigger than the role you’ve always played.
And now? I’m stepping down as MC and lead PM—for the best reason. One of their own is stepping up to lead the next session. That's the kind of sustainable leadership we aim for.
They brought their:
Personalities (shoutout to the Star Wars-themed session from the Google team!)
Strengths
Wisdom
Servant hearts
The welcomed coaching. They implemented feedback. They evolved with every session.
To say I’m proud is an understatement. Watching these teams transform into confident trainers and leaders has reminded me why I do this work.
This is what the 3 I’s of Leadership—Identity, Integrity, and Influence—look like in action. This is what Authentic Confidence creates.
And I can’t wait to support the next round of leaders as they rise.
